Gone But Not For Good
The sun will shine.
I look for as long as I can at it.
Spots appear when I close my eyes, soon they start to combine.
The grass around me blows in the wind.
They start tickling me bit by bit.
Breathing deeply, I start to remember.
Black, darkness, hurt.
My foster parent…
Trouble, yelling, I decide to run. He was such a pervert.
I leave the suitcase behind me, it made things too apparent.
I'm never going to go back.
A drop of rain falls on my cheek.
This tree will protect me, it will help me cope.
I climb into the branches I pray they aren’t too weak.
All I have is peace and hope
with me, sitting safe once again.
To never return would hurt more.
Knowing this, I struggle and fight the resistance.
I slowly crawl away drenching wet, which I ignore.
Soon they will forget about my existence.
Pain is slowly smoothed away.
Birds start to chirp and nip.
The rain has stopped.
Beads of water just like to drip.
It's late and I have dropped.
Tonight I sleep under the stars.
My Rhyme scheme is: ABABCDCDEF
